Sorry to have been so quiet recently, we've been surprisingly busy.

Last week P & C came for a visit from Germany. Chris is still recovering from knee surgery, and the weather was hot (as in between 95-98 F!) so we didn't do anything very strenuous. On the hottest day they were here (and possibly the hottest day of summer) we oh-so-wisely decided to take a picnic to the"big" park and let Geo loose on the play equipment. There were a few muttered comments about only mad dogs and Englishmen being out in the noonday sun....

On Friday we got our visitors back to the train station, and we had a very quiet weekend puttering around the apartment, doing things like hanging some pictures, improving Geo's room, getting rid of empty boxes and cleaning up the balcony. We made a quick-ish trip to the BHV, Paris' centrally-located major department store that sells a little bit of everything. While the maps say it's located across from the Mairie de Paris, anyone who ever goes there on a Saturday afternoon knows its actually in the 7th circle of hell, especially the basement level, which is devoted to power tools and hardware.

Monday we ran errands in the morning, and had some of Geo's friends over in the afternoon for a playdate, as it RAINED! Finally! Things look terrible here, very dry and brown, it was a relief to have a huge thunderstorm. Anyway, George loved having his buddies over and everyone had fun.

Yesterday, another friend from Paris made the trek out and stayed to play all day. It was great to catch up with them!

Today we're staying close to home. I have more bloodwork to do, and we'll probably hit the park in the afternoon, but other than that no big plans. In a little over a week Geo starts school. Sigh! I'm nervous and excited for him.
